ENV’s email hotline enables the rescue of a leopard cat

As well as the telephone ENV hotline 1800-1522, our email hotline, Hotline@fpt.vn, offers another way for people to report wildlife crime and make a difference, and as our hotlines continue to become more and more popular, ENV is able to achieve so much more.

SD 2064 Leopard cat An Giang FPD - R October 14 2009 2

For example, on March 19, ENV received a report that there were 2 leopard cats being kept illegally by a local resident in Ho Chi Minh City. Immediately after receiving the report, ENV informed the local Forest Protection Department and the Environmental Police, who checked the house the following day. Two animals were found and identified as one leopard cat and one domestic cat, which were being raised for breeding. The leopard cat is a protected species and so was confiscated. The cat is now healthy and is being taken care of by the local Forest Protection Department until it will be released back into its natural habitat.
