Last Friday, three leopard cats were successfully rescued as a direct result of a call to ENV’s wildlife crime hotline. ENV was informed that the cats were being kept in a restaurant in Dong Thap province, and duly informed local environmental police and Forest Protection Department.
The authorities immediately came to check the suspicious location and subsequently confiscated the three wild animals. In Vietnam, leopard cats are often illegally kept in restaurants for food, or by private owners as pets.
