Yesterday, a member of ENV called our hotline to voluntarily transfer a keeled box turtle, which was kept in his neighbor’s house. Realizing that keeping wildlife is illegal, he advised his neighbor to give up the animal.
We promptly informed the Asia Turtle Program in Hanoi who received the animal today. The turtle is now undergoing rehabilitation before being transferred to the Turtle Conservation Center in Cuc Phuong.
It is great to see ENV’s volunteer network in action, and furthermore being effective in conservation by encouraging the public to obey the law and do what is best for wildlife.
