Yesterday, ENV’s HCMC team headed for Le Van Tam Park. After a night of heavy downpours, we arrived at 5.30am as it was still raining and were pleased to find the park busy with many bright-eyed and excited locals keen to engage with our wildlife trade exhibit.
Passersby happily took a break from their morning exercises to read our wildlife trade information boards and take part in our activities. Nearly 100 locals participated in our wildlife trade quiz and shared their thoughts about the use of tiger bone in Vietnam.
One 22-year-old woman said, “I will explain to my relatives that we should not use tiger bone glue, because tigers are at the brink of extinction in Vietnam. People lack knowledge about wildlife and want to use tiger bone glue to heal illness… We should go to the hospital when we get sick to diagnose our illness and get better treatment.”
Members of our Wildlife Protection Volunteers Network enthusiastically supported us to attract and guide people in joining in the activities. The engagement and commitment of the locals made our event a great success!
