In an unprecedented move the government of South Africa is seeking permission to sell its $1 billion US collection of rhino horns to fund conservation efforts and saturate the black market.
While this may appear to be a good move for rhinos, the South African government risks increasing demand for rhino horn products, which would only increase poaching in the future.
