On June 22, ENV organized a meeting for members of Ho Chi Minh City’s Wildlife Protection Volunteer Network. Fourteen volunteers participated in the meeting and all enjoyed a presentation given by a volunteer about pangolins.
He spoke about his experiences as part of the pangolin reintroduction program at Cat Tien National Park. In addition to the presentation on pangolins, ENV is sending a representative to an international pangolin conference in Singapore later this month to report on the pangolin trade in Vietnam.
After the presentation, the volunteers split into pairs and monitored nine establishments and found seven violations. ENV’s Wildlife Crime Unit will cooperate with local authorities to address each of the violations. The ENV volunteers were enthusiastic about the activity, and they are excited for the Wildlife Crime Blitz event to come to Ho Chi Minh City soon.
