Good news from ENV’s Hotline: Two animals were rescued today

On Jun 20, 2013 a volunteer called to ENV’s hotline to report a macaque being kept at a private house in Son La province, Northern Vietnam. ENV’s Wildlife Crime Unit transferred the case to Son La City’s Forest Protection Department (FPD) on the same day.

The macaque was regularly mistreated by the owner and a video recording this even went viral on the Internet and attracted a lot of concern from the public.

At 3 P.M June 25, the macaque was confiscated and transferred to Son La FPD where it will be kept for a few days before being released back to the forest.

And this morning, a foreign tourist sent a message to our fanpage to report a Hawksbill turtle in a restaurant in Danang. ENV immediately reported it to the Fisheries department and they have just confirmed that the turtle was transferred and released back to the sea this afternoon.
