Every year more and more rhinos are being poached in South Africa. In the first half of 2014, 558 rhinos have already been poached.
If it continues at this rate the number of rhinos killed will surpass 2013 numbers, which saw 1004 rhinos killed. In 2011 the number of poached rhinos was only 448, less than half that of 2013. This rate of increase is alarming. The majority of rhinos are being poached from Kruger National Park.
To date, 157 people have been arrested for poaching this year.
