Last Sunday, 18 enthusiastic volunteers spread out across four districts in Vinh City, Nghe An province, to inspect restaurants and businesses for their compliance with wildlife protection laws.
In this second survey to be held in Vinh City in 2014, almost 200 businesses were checked; triple the number of locations inspected in the first survey one month ago. This represents a fantastic increase in effort from our volunteers in Vinh City, and resulted in a significant number of violations reported to ENV’s Wildlife Crime Unit: 15 businesses showed signs of violations, in which 10 appeared to be bear crimes. The ENV team is now working hard to process and log the data collected before transferring the cases to the relevant authorities for them to investigate.
