A Malayan sun bear and a yellow-cheeked gibbon are voluntarily transferred to the authorities

Last Thursday, a policeman who had attended an ENV training course many years ago put what he had learnt into practice; on seeing a bear and a gibbon being kept in a farm near Hanoi, he sent photographs and details of the case to ENV.

We were then able to inform the Hanoi Forestry Protection Department, and also travel with the authorities to the farm to talk to the owner. The owner decided to voluntarily transfer both the bear and gibbon to Hanoi FPD, and today they left the farm forever. As a result of the policeman’s simple actions, their future is now secure, and the survival of their species is a little more certain.
