Young people inspired on World Wildlife Day

The first ever World Wildlife Day, on 3rd March, was an important day for a group of young Vietnamese students who joined the Wildlife Talk set up at the American Center, part of the U.S. Embassy last Monday. Almost 50 students came to learn about wildlife protection from various organizations via presentations, discussions and a film about wildlife conservation around the world.

As the final speakers, ENV staff inspired the students to make a difference through their own actions in order to eliminate wildlife consumption in Vietnam, setting alight their enthusiasm to get involved in conservation. During a lively discussion about how young people can work for wildlife conservation in Vietnam, one student came up with the idea of creating a ‘sting operation’ in order to catch wildlife criminals red-handed. Students were also encouraged to put the hotline number in the their phone or note it down, so that they are ready to report crimes whenever and wherever they see signs of violation.
