Yesterday ENV’s Bear Protection Program Coordinator, an enthusiastic ENV volunteer and a representative of Hanoi Environmental police took part in an honest and interesting discussion about wildlife consumption as part of a popular TV talk show, to be aired on a Hanoi TV channel over the Lunar New Year.
The program will give audiences an in-depth look into the reality of wildlife consumption, and inspire them to take part in wildlife protection activities, of which the easiest thing to do is simply to say “No” to wildlife products. The Lunar New Year is the most important holiday in Vietnam, and it is a time for families to come together, relax, reflect on the previous year and make positive plans for the year ahead. Viewing audiences are therefore expected to be high, and by spreading the message of wildlife protection at the New Year it is hoped that many people in Hanoi will resolve to begin 2014 (The Year of the Horse) by reducing wildlife consumption and working to put a stop to the illegal wildlife trade for good.
