Student’s touching appeal in letter to bear bile farmers

“What did baby bears do?
Why were they taken away from their mom,
Then kept in farms
And their bile harvested for medicine?” *

student touching appeal in letter to bear bile farmers

This is the poem written by a 17 year old student in Phuc Tho district, Hanoi, after seeing photos of bear bile harvesting. ENV chose his moving writings as the message to be included in a recent round of the monthly letters from ENV to bear farmers, sent in order to put the pressure on and urge them to stop their illegal operations.

Nearly 3000 secondary students in Phuc Tho district – a hotspot for bear farming – showed their commitment against bear farming for bile. We want to say a big ‘Thank You’ to them for pledging to prevent this cruel and illegal business.
