Rhino horns seized at airport and ivory smuggler prosecuted


The Customs Department of Vietnam’s Noi Bai Airport have announced that on May 30th a female Vietnamese passenger from Doha, Quatar surrendered three pieces of animal horns when authorities requested to check her luggage. She admitted that they were rhino horn.

On June 3rd, authorities in Da Nang City, Central Vietnam prosecuted a middle-age man for smuggling ivory from Singapore. The man was arrested on December 3rd, 2012 in Da Nang airport for not obeying his probation for gambling. When checking his luggage, the police discovered 5 pieces of elephant tusk with a total weight of more than 30Kgs.
