Vietnam has been identified as one of the world’s largest buyers of illegal rhino products, most of which are smuggled from South Africa. This recent contraband seizure comes following calls by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), ENV, and other organizations for the Vietnamese government to redouble it’s efforts to halt the illegal trade of rhino horns.
