On July 12, some 20 officers from police, customs and environmental agencies in seven Asian countries attended an Interpol meeting in Bangkok to consider ways to improve the enforcement of wildlife protection laws in the region, with a focus on protecting Asian “big cats”. The meeting was organized with assistance from USAID, the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW ) and ENV.

Supported by one of ENV’s Wildlife Action Partnership Grants, the meeting encouraged practical discussions on how enforcement can be strengthened and demand for the consumption of wildlife can be reduced across Asia, particularly in Vietnam. We hope this program will continue to inspire fresh and creative solutions and we look forward to establishing a range of active working partnerships with others who share our interest in and commitment to wildlife protection.
