On June 28, ENV team in Ho Chi Minh City organized a talk called “Score a goal for wildlife” for the members of the Drink and English club in city central.
The topics under discussion were the consumption of wildlife in Vietnam, its consequences and appropriate solutions. This encouraged participants to actively share ideas on how to “Score a goal for wildlife”. Everyone can join in the game by saying NO to wildlife consumption, reporting wildlife crimes to local authorities or using our toll free wildlife protection hotline 1800 1522.
On June 29, ENV’s Wildlife Protection Volunteer Network welcomed ten new members after a volunteer recruitment and training course in Hue city (photo). The half-day course included three major sections: Identification of common wildlife in illegal trade; training on skills to wildlife crime monitor and practice of wildlife crime monitor on local business establishments. The new volunteers monitored 22 locations and found four violations, which were then all transferred to ENV’s Wildlife Crime Unit for further process. In the afternoon a seminar was held on the Vietnamese Fresh Turtle topic which was also organized and presented successfully by Wildlife Protection volunteer club in Hue city.
On June 30, in Da Nang a seminar on Vietnamese Elephants was conducted for the city volunteer club. Three members of the club ran the seminar and interestingly, one of the presenters previously reported the case of the Stump-tailed macaque, which was released on June 22.
