This morning, two leopard cats were released into Long Khanh Nature Reserve, as a result of a call to ENV’s wildlife crime hotline.
An informant contacted ENV last Friday to report that the two animals were being kept in a restaurant in Tra Vinh province, in the south of Vietnam. ENV responded immediately by informing the local Environmental Police and Forest Protection Department, who then came to check the premises and confiscated the pair of wild cats
Leopard cats are listed under Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) and are also protected under Group IB of Vietnamese Decree 32/2006/ND-CP.
