Vietnamese news on nld.com.vn reports that a saola (Pseudoryx nghetinhensis), a rare animal which has not been seen for 15 years, was caught on camera in Quang Nam province.
First found in 1992, the saola is considered “the greatest animal find of recent times”. However, as it only lives in a narrow area of forest on the border between Vietnam and Laos, the saola’s existence is precarious, and it’s already limited habitat is under constant threat of being further reduced. This recent breathtaking discovery therefore raises hopes for wildlife recovery in Vietnam.
