Volunteer helps to rescue macaques

At ENV we are always overjoyed when we are able to save the life of a wild animal. Our numerous recent successes have caused much cheering in the office and last Friday was no exception, as we celebrated the rescue of two macaques thanks to the information provided to ENV by one of our volunteers in Binh Duong.

March18-Volunteer helps to rescue macaques

On March 7th, the day after ENV held a volunteer recruitment drive in Binh Duong province, we received a hotline call from a volunteer who reported that a local resident was in illegal possession of two macaques. ENV quickly informed the local Forest Protection Department, who inspected the house and confiscated the macaques, identified as a long-tailed macaque and a pig-tailed macaque, one week later. Both animals were immediately released into a local forest.

Case ref no: 4010.
