Today, on International Tiger Day, people across the globe recognize the threats faced by the world’s remaining tigers. Here at ENV, we support tiger conservation in Vietnam every day by working with law enforcement, decision-makers and the public to stop the illegal trade and reduce the consumption of tigers in Vietnam.     

Since the St Petersburg Tiger Summit in 2010, people have been coming together at the end of July each year to recognize the threats faced by tigers across the globe.   Here at ENV, every day is tiger day. As part of our ongoing campaign to engage with bear farmers in Vietnam, ENV has sent out a new flyer aimed at persuading farmers to cease all bear farming practices.  

Yesterday, ENV’s HCMC team headed for Le Van Tam Park. After a night of heavy downpours, we arrived at 5.30am as it was still raining and were pleased to find the park busy with many bright-eyed and excited locals keen to engage with our wildlife trade exhibit.    

Two wildlife crime cases this week have highlighted the importance of the volunteer seminar we ran last weekend entitled “Leopard cats – not your pets”.  

During our visit to Quynh Luu this week, we’ve been sitting down and speaking with the neighbors of bear farmers in the area. As part of our bear campaign activities targeted at 32 bear farms across Quynh Luu, ENV aims to speak with at least three to five neighbors on every field visit.  

This morning, as part of awareness raising activities in the bear farming hotspot of Quynh Luu, our bear team hosted an exhibit at a local market.     

Yesterday, ENV and local authorities co-hosted a bear farming management conference in Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province – one of Vietnam’s bear farming “hotspots”.
